CAP High Balloon Challenge

Welcome to the RVCS CAP High Altitude Balloon Challenge Webpage.

CAP High Altitude Balloon Challenge:

DESIGN AN EXPERIMENT TO TEST ON A HIGH-ALTITUDE BALLOON

StratoStar is the organization: www.StratoStar.net

-They send two experiment tubes to the squadron for experiments

-Squadrons pick their science or engineering experiments; they design and build them

-Squadrons send one tube back to StratoStar for the balloon launch and one tube stays at the squadron for comparison. Launch is every August.

-StratoStar sends you back the tube that had been in high altitude

-Lesson plans are included that guide AEOs and cadets through the process; obviously there are rules to follow

-StratoStar pays the shipping and handling charges

-Squadrons analyze data after the mission and prepare a report

StratoStar SHARE Challenge: As humans go to space we want to take our earth-designed objects and products with us…...but we don’t know how space might affect or change them. Your challenge is to design science / engineering experiments that are to be flown above 99% of the atmosphere on one of StratoStar’s High-Altitude Balloons!
